The club’s 18-hole course covers an area of 68 hectares with a total fairway  yardage of 7,176,dotted with 98bunkers and streaked with a winding river that covers a total area of 120,000㎡. The course, shaped like a dragon’s claw, is hemmed in by adjacent green hills and the blue sea and covered with large stretches of grass, which forming a beautiful landscape. The fairways of the course, shaped strategically and exquisitely, look smooth but prove to be complex and deceptive, offering a mix of greater challenge ability and entertainment, meeting the needs of golfers of different levels. Planned to be a standard 36-hole course, Yalong Bay Golf Course is designed  and built by Robert Trent Jones Company of the U.S .in accordance with the standard by American Professional Golf Association. The world-famous company has made the course to present the classic style like the “Links”in Europe and America .The following is a brief account given by the course designer ---Mr. Trent Jones:" The design of Yalong Bay Golf Club has been an enjoyable undertaking and the completed course is an outstanding accomplishment by all the participants, Yalong Bay will become one of the great golfing experiences available in China and be a sister course to our other courses in the Asian region. It gives me a great personal pleasure to introduce this course to all the prospective members or guests and to have encompassed a brief concept statement to show our original design approach. The Golf Course Design Concept for the initial 18 holes at Yalong Bay Golf Club is to create a Links Land Championship Resort Course.The gentle rolling terrain has been transformed by use of native sands mimicking natural dunes of several hundred years ago, before the rice fields were built. A golf course carefully designed to incorporate native grasses and coastal vegetation appears to grow out of the spaces that nature formed. The lakes and wash-marsh areas are ceated to catch and retain the rainfall run-off and make a sizable contribution to building and maintain the underground aquifer. The first 18-holes will use 68 hectares of land will have 14,000㎡of green areas ,30,000㎡of tee areas ,171,000㎡of fairways ,142,000㎡of rough area 180,000㎡ of native grass and wild flower area and ,16,000㎡ of ornamental ground over and approximately 150,000㎡of tree area 8,000 ornamental plants. This created environment will not only clean the air every day, but add enough oxygen to support several hundred people, and will also create habitat for many birds, fish and other wild life. The second 18-holes will combine all of the above features and also contain an existing knoll of tress and fauna and two water shed deltas that will reduce the loss of fresh water to the sea and reduce valuable soil erosion extending from the adjacent mountains.
